If your child is working hard but still finding reading, writing or maths difficult, you are not alone — and I am here to help.

I am a qualified teacher, Level 7 Specialist Assessor, trainer, and Deputy SENCo with over 15 years’ experience in education, working across the state, independent schools, and further education, supporting children, students, and adults to access the support they need to succeed.

As a classroom teacher, I have seen first-hand the daily challenges that learners with dyslexia can face. I understand how frustrating and confusing it can be when a child is working hard but still struggling, and how easily these difficulties can go unrecognised. I am experienced in identifying what undiagnosed dyslexia can look like in the classroom, particularly when children experience ongoing difficulties with spelling, reading, writing and maths.

I hold a current Assessment Practising Certificate (APC), enabling me to carry out diagnostic dyslexia assessments and assessments for Exam Access Arrangements in line with professional standards. I also offer screening assessments to identify possible dyslexic traits, providing a helpful and reassuring first step in understanding your child’s needs.

Alongside assessment work, I offer 1:1 tuition, SATs and 11+ preparation, study skills support, and training for schools, helping learners and educators feel more confident, informed, and empowered.

You are welcome to get in touch for a friendly, no-obligation conversation about how I can support your child.

I’m Alison Parsons, a qualified teacher, Level 7 Specialist Assessor, trainer, and Deputy SENCo with over 18 years’ experience working in education. Over the years, I’ve supported learners with a wide range of needs, and I know how important it is to recognise and effectively support dyslexia and dyscalculia.

I’m passionate about the difference that early identification and the right support can make. With the right strategies in place, barriers to learning can be reduced, cognitive load eased, and children can grow in confidence so they are able to access learning more easily and reach their full potential.

I hold a current Assessment Practising Certificate (APC), which enables me to carry out diagnostic assessments and determine Exam Access Arrangements. I also offer screening assessments, which can provide early insight into possible dyslexic and dyscalculic traits and help you decide whether a full assessment would be helpful.

Alongside this, I offer one-to-one tuition, SATs and 11+ preparation, study skills support, and specialist training for teachers and support staff. My teaching philosophy centres on building confidence first, using clear, structured, and supportive approaches to help every learner experience success. I use practical, evidence-based strategies that help remove barriers to learning, enabling children and young people to thrive while giving parents and educators the confidence to support them effectively.
